A phase III trial put a finasteride spray against placebo and against the tablet. Hair count rose by 20.2 versus 6.7 in the measured scalp area; plasma finasteride was more than 100× lower than with the tablet, and serum DHT fell 34.5% instead of 55.6%. The full result — and what it does not prove.
The largest evidence review in pigmentary medicine ranked every melasma treatment against every other. Triple combination cream and hydroquinone came out on top; peels and lasers were equal or inferior, with more risk.
